Parkopedia Data Report Shows Significant Accuracy Gap Among Providers

Parkopedia released a report that found its parking data significantly outperforms competitors Google GOOG -2.86%↓ and Inrix in both coverage and accuracy across the U.S. and Europe. The study, which analyzed 8,000 locations across 20 global mobility hubs, showed Parkopedia maintains up to 99 percent accuracy while some alternative providers fell as low as 45 percent in tested areas, the company said.

Parkopedia says its parking data significantly outperforms competitors Google, Inrix (Parkopedia).

Researchers warned that incomplete data from other sources frequently directs motorists to incorrect or inaccessible locations, leading to driver frustration and potential parking fines. Parkopedia Chief Operating Officer Hans Puvogel said high-quality data is increasingly critical as automakers move toward automated in-car payments for parking and charging services.
