Ontario International Airport Launches Real-Time Shuttle Tracking System

Ontario International Airport has launched a real-time shuttle tracking system that lets travelers view live vehicle locations and estimated arrival times by scanning QR codes posted throughout the airport. Each shuttle is equipped with a GPS-enabled tablet that continuously updates its location, helping regulate departures and reduce bus bunching at stops.

A new real-time tracking system at Southern California’s Ontario International Airport shows exactly where airport buses are and when they are expected to arrive (Ontario International Airport).

Implemented through airport partner PCI, the Bus Genius system is currently undergoing a pilot phase to gather passenger feedback and refine performance. The digital initiative comes ahead of a broader modernization plan that includes replacing existing shuttles with a new fleet of electric and compressed natural gas buses by late 2027.

Global Robotaxi Fleet Expected to Surpass 1.5 Million Vehicles by 2036

The global commercial robotaxi fleet is projected to expand from 6,500 active vehicles at the end of 2025 to 1.53 million by 2036, according to a report by market research firm Berg Insight. Total passenger fare revenue from autonomous ride-hailing services is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 79.2%, increasing from $260 million to $158.7 billion over the same period. Although driverless services are currently centered in the United States, China and the Middle East, recent expansions into Europe, South Korea and Singapore point to accelerating international growth. Industry analysts noted that scaling these services globally will require integration of end-to-end artificial intelligence, purpose-built vehicle manufacturing and viable local unit economics.
