Mappedin Expands Strategic Indoor Mapping Initiatives and Scale with Microsoft

Indoor mapping company Mappedin has partnered with Microsoft MSFT 0.05%↑ as a Managed Solution Partner.  As part of the deal, Mappedin will offer its Indoor Mapping Platform on Azure MarketplaceMicrosoft 365, and Power Platform.

Mappedin’s platform integrates Azure Maps for geolocation and outdoor context. The Mappedin platform serves 1.5 billion square feet of indoor space on Azure, many for Fortune 500 companies, the company said.

Topcon Positioning Systems and Fixposition Partner

Topcon Positioning Systems and Fixposition have announced an agreement for Fixposition to provide Topcon correction services to Fixposition customers in North America and Europe.  Topcon operates the Topnet Live network, one of the largest GNSS base station networks in Europe and North America.

In areas where there are reliable GNSS signals, Fixposition’s Vision-RTK 2 uses Topcon RTK correction to initialize at centimeter accuracy, the company said.  In areas with disrupted GNSS signals, the Fixposition vision fusion takes over to maintain the accuracy of global position and pose estimation, the company said.

Yunex Traffic Expands HERE Solution

Yunex Traffic said it will expand its HERE Technologies-powered Journey Time as a Service (JTaaS) solution to Scotland.  In Edinburgh, the company will install 62 corridors to monitor journey times throughout the city, the company said.

JTaaS can calculate the journey time on a given corridor and display this to road users, the company said.  The solution uses HERE Real-Time Traffic and HERE Routing to deliver information about traffic flow and incidents.

Teletrac Navman Study Finds Construction Fleets Cut Fuel Cost With Telematics

Teletrac Navman has launched the results of its TS23 Telematics Survey, with interviews from 500 fleet professionals about their challenges.  Fleet operators say that their largest area of cost, ranking above new equipment purchase, is vehicle and equipment maintenance.  The survey said that 97 percent of telematics users have seen a fuel reduction as much as 40 percent, 95 percent had fewer accidents and 94 percent used driver performance benchmarking to improve safety.

Faction and Arcimoto Partner For Driverless Vehicle Platforms

Faction Technology and Arcimoto FUV 1.33%↑ have announced a strategic and joint investment agreement to scale driverless vehicle fleets.  Faction’s DriveLink and TeleAssist technologies allows Arcimoto platform vehicles to integrate driverless capabilities, the company said.

This driverless vehicle system is designed to maintain the core strengths of the Arcimoto platform, including a top speed of 75 mph and a range of just over 100 miles, the company said.  Faction and Arcimoto have identified fleet customers in the logistics and transportation sectors as their primary target market.

Lytx Celebrates 25 Years in Telematics Business

Lytx is celebrating 25 years in the fleet telematics business.  In 2001, Lytx rolled out its DC2 event recorder.  In 2012, the company launched a video recorder with dedicated GPS.  The company announced a strategic partnership with Geotab and acquired Surfsight in 2020.

Sensata Telematics Solution on Geotab Marketplace

 Geotab has announced that Sensata INSIGHTS‘ AP1 camera solution is now available through the Geotab Marketplace.  Sensata INSIGHTS plans to add more camera solutions to the Geotab Marketplace.

Sensata INSIGHTS’ video telematics solutions integrate with the Geotab platform, the company said.  The AP1 includes an advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) with notifications that focus on supporting drivers, including forward collision warnings, lane departure warnings and tailgating warnings.

HERE APAC Study Says Most Logistics Companies Face Tech Challenges

HERE Technologies has published a study, APAC On The Move, to provide insights from transportation and logistics professionals across Asia-Pacific (APAC) on the current technology trends and practices.  Nearly 90 percent of APAC logistics companies surveyed have cited technology implementation challenges as their biggest barrier.

More than half of the firms surveyed have cited the challenge of identifying the right partners and/or suppliers as their biggest barrier to technology implementation. Approximately 45 percent of APAC logistics firms surveyed are using asset tracking and shipment monitoring software in combination with manual inputs to track assets, shipment and cargo.

CMT Part of Guidewire PartnerConnect Ecosystem

Guidewire GWRE 1.48%↑ announced its Guidewire Marketplace is now home to more than 200 partner apps.  Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT) is one of the partner apps with its DriveWell platform.  DriveWell gathers sensor data from millions of IoT devices like smartphones, proprietary tags, connected vehicles, dash cams, and third-party devices, the company said.

First Responder Smart Tracking Challenge Awards $1.1M for Tracking Technology

Indiana University’s Crisis Technologies Innovation Lab has awarded six teams $1.1 million during the most recent phase of the FRST Challenge (First Responder Smart Tracking).  The competition brings together academics, entrepreneurs, students and first responders from around the world to develop non-GPS 3D tracking that shows the exact indoor location of a first responder in real time, the school said.

The Public Safety Communications Research Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology awarded IU $8 million to administer the competition.  The six teams will advance to the final phase in October, where their tracking prototypes will undergo advanced field testing, according to a press release.

Keysight Obtains FiRa Validation

Keysight Technologies KEYS -3.16%↓ has obtained a FiRa Consortium validation for its automated ultra-wideband PHY Conformance Test Tool to enable device makers and chip designers to test the physical layer (PHY) conformance of their FiRa UWB-based products.  UWB is being adopted for secure proximity and location-based services. Keysight’s automated test solution allows design engineers can perform UWB measurements including frequency, time, and amplitude domain analysis, the company said.
