Geotab Adds Polestar Vehicles to OEM Telematics Network as Competition Grows Among Fleet Platforms

Geotab has announced that Polestar PSNY 0.00%↑ vehicles are now integrated into its OEM telematics network, allowing commercial fleet operators in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific to access near real-time vehicle data directly in the MyGeotab platform without installing aftermarket hardware.

The integration, developed in collaboration with Polestar and other telematics providers, delivers comprehensive data including EV battery and charging status, location, tire information, vehicle security, maintenance alerts and climate controls. Fleet managers can now manage Polestar electric vehicles alongside other makes and models on a single platform, supporting proactive maintenance, optimized charging schedules and regulatory compliance, the company said.

Geotab and Polestar integrate telematics platform for fleets in Europe (Geotab).

The move is particularly significant for European fleets dealing with mixed manufacturers, as OEM-embedded telematics reduces installation logistics and helps meet works council and GDPR requirements. Polestar joins Geotab’s broad OEM network, which already covers more than 80 percent of leading global vehicle manufacturers by fleet market share, including BMW Group, Ford F 0.00%↑, Stellantis, Volkswagen Group and Volvo Cars.

“Polestar’s connected vehicle architecture makes this integration particularly well-suited for markets seriously considering transitioning to electric vehicles,” Christoph Ludewig, Geotab’s vice president of global OEM, said in a statement. “Fleet operators managing mixed EV and internal combustion engine fleets no longer need separate tools or hardware for each vehicle type.”

Competitors Expand OEM Partnerships

Geotab’s latest integration reflects a broader industry trend. Competing telematics providers such as Verizon Connect VZ 0.00%↑, Samsara IOT 0.00%↑ and Webfleet Solutions have also deepened partnerships with auto OEMs to offer native, hardware-free data access for mixed fleets. These collaborations allow fleet operators to consolidate data from multiple vehicle brands more efficiently as the shift toward electric vehicles accelerates.
