TomTom has expanded its partnership with Microsoft MSFT -1.29%↓ to integrate its location intelligence directly into Microsoft Fabric. The integration connects TomTom’s mapping, traffic and geospatial data with Microsoft’s enterprise analytics platform through OneLake and Foundry. By embedding real-time spatial context into existing business workflows, the combined technology aims to help enterprise customers feed accurate real-world data into artificial intelligence systems and automated agents.

TomTom will expand its location intelligence for AI agents built on Microsoft Fabric and Microsoft Foundry through Microsoft’s new IQ Sharing preview (TomTom).

The integration enables organization-wide data teams to combine proprietary operational records with TomTom’s global mapping, traffic and regulatory data without custom software development. Through TomTom’s IQ Sharing capabilities, AI agents across the Microsoft enterprise stack gain continuous real-world spatial context to optimize logistics, urban planning and supply chain decision-making. The service is available on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace and qualifies under the Microsoft Azure Consumption Commitment program, allowing enterprise clients to apply existing cloud budgets toward deployment.

Location technology providers increasingly view integration with major cloud and data platforms as a key growth channel. Competing mapping providers, including Esri, HERE Technologies and Google GOOG -1.18%↓ Maps Platform, offer similar geospatial integrations across cloud ecosystems such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. However, TomTom’s direct integration into Microsoft Fabric specifically targets enterprise AI workflows and automated decision systems embedded in Microsoft’s enterprise suite.

TomTom executives emphasized that providing real-time spatial semantics is essential for ground-level AI model validation and operational accuracy. By making location analytics natively available within data lake environments, enterprise users can automate route planning, monitor asset distribution and evaluate physical environmental risks alongside standard corporate metrics. The companies plan to demonstrate the technology preview at FabCon Europe in Barcelona.

The agreement builds on a multiyear collaboration between the Amsterdam-based mapmaker and Microsoft focused on cloud-based navigation and location-aware services. Financial terms of the expanded enterprise agreement were not disclosed.
