Mapping App Uses Predictive AI to Guide Soccer Fans Through Stadium Traffic Fluctuations

HERE Technologies has updated its free navigation application to help millions of sports fans navigate severe congestion around North American stadiums during a major international soccer tournament. The HERE WeGo application combines historical data, real-time traffic signals, and incident reports from local transit authorities to generate predictive routing models that anticipate heavy bottlenecks before and after matches.

HERE’s HERE WeGo updates map app to navigate sports fans around congestion (HERE Technologies).

By integrating public transit options, lane-level details, and emergency road closure alerts into a centralized map, the platform allows pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers to pivot away from gridlocked corridors, the company said. Company officials noted the predictive algorithm’s capabilities will also be instantly shared with automotive manufacturers and commercial enterprises utilizing the company’s software development kits within factory dashboard navigation frameworks.

Tech Companies Complete First All-European Semiconductor Manufacturing Run for Defense Chips

GlobalFoundries and fabless chip designer Qualinx have successfully completed the first fully European-based, end-to-end manufacturing flow for security-critical semiconductors. Co-funded by the European Chips Act, the initiative processed an ultra-low-power satellite navigation system-on-chip entirely within the European Union at GlobalFoundries’ fabrication facility in Dresden. The production pathway handles every operational step—from the initial design intake and physical mask creation to the final wafer manufacturing—without allowing any highly sensitive design data or physical materials to leave the continent, the company said.

Electronics Manufacturer SparkFun Spins Off New Open-Source Satellite Navigation Subsidiary

SparkFun Electronics has launched a subsidiary to provide open-source, field-ready hardware for the positioning, navigation, and timing market. The new independent business, named SparkPNT, will leverage its parent company’s two decades of global distribution and design expertise to offer customizable, commercial-grade tracking products at a reduced cost, the company said.

SparkFun Electronics has launched SparkPNT (SparkFun Electronics).

The subsidiary is launching with an initial hardware lineup that includes modular GNSS receivers, weatherized survey rovers, continuous reference stations, and ultra-precise timing units. Company officials stated the architecture is deliberately designed to allow users to fully own, upgrade, and repair their own tracking equipment, bypassing the proprietary ecosystems that have historically dominated the precision positioning industry.
