Las Vegas—CES 2025 predictably focused on AI with a surprisingly robust autonomous vehicle presence. Location technology companies also attended in droves, whether it was a booth or meeting room, for the first time since the end of the pandemic.
In an under the press’ radar event, 4S Mobility launched at the conference that hopes to spark the momentum of 4S (Safe, Secure, Sustainable and Seamless) technologies. The launch event included 22 automakers co-sponsored by SBD Automotive, Amazon Web Services (AWS), HERE Technologies and Magna International.
At CES, TomTom [TOM2] announced a partnership with Aptiv for urban self-driving capabilities using the company’s Orbis Maps. Aptiv will leverage TomTom’s HD road network and maps, focusing on developing L2+ features, to enhance hands-free driving across various environments, the company said.
Another company at CES, GEODNET, is leveraging blockchain and crypto markets to grow its worldwide RTK GNSS network of base stations from zero to 12,000 in just three years, said Mike Horton, company co-founder. “We have tripled our numbers in the past three years based on Deeper Web 3 technology that provides crypto token incentives to allow users to set up stations,” he said.
While Horton and three other co-founders come from high-precision GNSS company backgrounds, one of the founders has deep roots in blockchain and crypto technology.
At CES, company showed off its GEO-PULSE device that taps into GEODNET’s RTK network to deliver position accuracy for various use cases. GEODNET recently was added to Septentrio’s Agnostic Corrections Partner Program.

- John Deere DE 0.02%↑ revealed several new autonomous machines during a press conference at CES 2025 to support customers in agriculture, construction, and commercial landscaping. Building on the company’s autonomous technology first rolled out at CES 2022, its second-generation autonomy kit combines computer vision, AI, and cameras to help the machines navigate their environments.
- Hexagon’s Autonomy and Positioning division, with partner Murata, demonstrated the latest location technology for advanced driving assistance systems and autonomous driving.
- ANELLO Photonics, the creator of the Silicon Photonic Optical Gyroscope (SiPhOG) announced the launch of the ANELLO Maritime INS for maritime applications. The product is tailored fo marine applications in GPS-denied or spoofed environments.
- Quectel Wireless Solutions introduced the LS550G, an ultra-compact multi-constellation GNSS module. With its 5mm x 5mm x 1.05mm form factor, the LS550G is tailored for power- and space-sensitive applications, the company said.
- Parkopedia’s annual CES Breakfast Briefing featured more than 100 customers, colleagues and partners at STRAT Tower. Featured speakers included Rivian, AMPECO, Valtech Mobility GmbH and Parkopedia.
- Sanyogita Shamsunder, COO of NextNav NN 0.00%↑, gave a presentation on 5G and terrestrial location networks.
- The Indy Autonomous Challenge made history at CES 2025 with the first successful completion of a multi-car autonomous race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Four IAC AV-24 fully autonomous racecars piloted by AI drivers from university teams competing head-to-head in a 20-lap exhibition race. The race ended with UNIMORE Racing crossing the finish line less than three-tenths of a second faster than Cavalier Autonomous Racing.
