TrustPoint Contracts for 40 Satellites to Expand GPS-Independent Navigation Network

TrustPoint has awarded a contract to EnduroSat US to build 40 satellites for its low Earth orbit positioning, navigation and timing constellation, advancing the company’s effort to deliver a commercial GPS-independent navigation system. Financial details were not disclosed.

The satellites will be produced and delivered in three sequential launches starting in 2027 and running into late 2028. TrustPoint already operates free-flying satellites carrying its C-band GNSS payload and has demonstrated live-sky C-band signal transmission, ground-to-space PNT links, and operation through GNSS interference.

In a related milestone, TrustPoint and Hexagon’s NovAtel demonstrated that an enhanced commercial receiver could acquire and track TrustPoint’s C-band signals while conventional GNSS faced interference. The work was conducted under a Naval Air Systems Command Small Business Innovation Research Phase II contract aimed at developing resilient navigation technology for jammed or spoofed environments.

TrustPoint said the partnership with EnduroSat, a manufacturer trusted by NASA and the European Space Agency, enables faster constellation deployment by using proven commercial satellite buses rather than building manufacturing capability in-house. “EnduroSat has built their entire business, tech stack, and facilities around mass-manufacturing satellites,” said Patrick Shannon, founder and CEO of TrustPoint. “Partnering with EnduroSat lets each of us do what we do best, which speeds up our time to orbit and time to market versus building satellite manufacturing capability in-house.”

The expansion comes as interest grows in complementary and alternative PNT systems amid rising concerns over GPS jamming and spoofing. Shannon said the company is designed as a complement to heritage GPS rather than a replacement. “Real resilience comes from a layered approach of genuinely diverse solutions, and we deliver that diversity by design: a different orbit, a different frequency,” he said. “TrustPoint works seamlessly alongside GPS today, but we’re architecturally independent, so when GPS goes dark, we don’t degrade with it.”

Competitors are pursuing similar goals with different technical approaches. Xona Space Systems is developing its Pulsar L-band LEO constellation, which has received FCC authorization for commercial deployment and is designed to deliver stronger signals compatible with many existing GPS receivers. TrustPoint differentiates itself by operating in C-band. “More L-band, even at higher power, doesn’t solve today’s electronic warfare problem,” Shannon said. “Our move to C-band is the real architectural edge: the physics of that frequency, combined with TrustPoint’s core signal processing technology, deliver anti-jam performance that L-band simply cannot match.”

Shannon added that electronic warfare affects both military and civilian users. “Hundreds of millions of people and commercial systems across Europe and the Middle East are experiencing the same jamming and spoofing our warfighters face,” he said. “That design philosophy is what lets TrustPoint serve defense and commercial customers off the same architecture: the resilience defense needs is the same resilience commercial autonomy needs.”
