u-blox Launches Wi-Fi 7 Module
Thalwil, Switzerland-based u-blox has launched its first automotive-grade Wi-Fi 7 module, RUBY-W2, allowing OEMs to enhance user in-vehicle infotainment and telematics, the company said. According to the TSR Wireless Connectivity Market Report 2024, the attach rate of Wi-Fi for in-vehicle infotainment and telematics control unit applications will increase sharply over the next five years, the company said.
RUBY-W2 features higher throughput, support for more concurrent users, and lower latency, resulting in better network availability and user experience for various in-vehicle applications, the company said. Use cases include infotainment and navigation and advanced telematics. Early samples of the RUBY-W2 series are available now, the company said.

Septentrio Extends Mosiac GNSS Modules With New Range
Septentrio has extended its mosaic family of compact GNSS receiver modules with the mosaic-G5 receiver range. These new modules will broaden the field of applications since they offer a size reduction of 60 percent and a power consumption reduction of 40 percent compared to the mosaic-X5 receiver, the company said.

RuggON has introduced the VIKING II fleet management device for logistics, mining, construction, and public safety markets. VIKING II is powered by the Qualcomm QCOM 0.00%↑ Snapdragon 6490 Octa-Core Processor.

TickTalk Rolls Out AI-Powered Location SmartPin Correction GPS Feature
TickTalk has launched an AI-powered Location Smartpin Correction GPS to provide real-time location tracking for kids’ smartwatches. The company said it is the first U.S.-based smartwatch company to use AI technology to correct and update locations.
Powered by AI, the company says that Location SmartPin Correction eliminates GPS errors in urban and indoor settings. The feature allows advanced parental controls via app, including real-time location tracking, SmartPin correction, SOS alerts, contact management, and app limits, the company said.

Space Flight Laboratory Announces Launch and Deployment of NorSat-4 Maritime Monitoring Microsatellite
Space Flight Laboratory (SFL) has confirmed the successful launch and deployment of Norway’s NorSat-4 maritime monitoring microsatellite. The seventh spacecraft developed for the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA) by SFL, NorSat-4 carries a fifth-generation Automatic Identification System (AIS) ship tracking receiver and a first-of-its-kind low-light imaging camera, the company said.
Safran Reosc of France built the camera under contract with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment to optically detect vessels longer than 30 meters in Arctic darkness, the company said.

Tracking Devices for Trailers, Containers, Rail Freight Wagons, ULDs and Pallets Reached 11 Million in 2023
Berg Insight’s new report on the trailer and cargo container tracking market said active tracking devices deployed for cargo carrying units reached 11.1 million worldwide in 2023. Growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 15.0 percent, this number is expected to reach 22.4 million by 2028, the report said. ORBCOMM is the largest provider of tracking solutions for cargo carrying units, having a significant installed base of both trailers and containers. The second and third largest players – Nexxiot and SkyBitz – have reached installed bases of about 1.0 million and 750,000 tracking units respectively, the report said.
