MWC Barcelona 2026 Draws Nearly 105,000 Attendees Amid AI, Connectivity Focus


Mobile World Congress Barcelona 2026 concluded last week after attracting nearly 105,000 attendees from 207 countries and territories, marking the event’s 20th anniversary in the city despite global travel disruptions from geopolitical issues.

Outside of satellite connectivity panels, a key highlight was LG Electronics joining Qualcomm’s QCOM -1.85%↓ Global 6G Coalition, announced at the show, to advance AI-centered vehicles and next-generation telematics. The Global 6G Coalition, which includes dozens of companies, targets 6G commercialization starting in 2029. The collaboration focuses on connected mobility, software-defined vehicles and AI-defined vehicles to enhance automotive connectivity and AI integration, the company said.

At MWC, HARMAN introduced Ready Ride, a rugged connectivity platform tailored for two-wheeled vehicles. Ready Ride is HARMAN’s first end-to-end connectivity platform designed specifically for motorcycles and other two-wheelers, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis.

Fibocom showcased its full-series GNSS modules and solutions for precise positioning. Fibocom expanded its GNSS portfolio to enable accurate connectivity across applications, with the latest generation modules entering customer sampling in April 2026, the company said.

The offerings support intelligent connectivity and precise location services in sectors like automotive, IoT and beyond.

Nordic Semiconductor expanded its cellular IoT lineup with new product families. The company introduced the nRF92 Series for next-generation LTE-M/NB-IoT with satellite NTN integration and the nRF93 Series for LTE Cat 1 bis, plus updates to the nRF91 Series including edge AI and higher throughput.026-2027.

  • The GSMA-organized gathering featured more than 2,900 exhibitors, sponsors and partners, along with more than 1,700 speakers, with artificial intelligence dominating discussions alongside advancements in connectivity, automotive tech and location services.
  • The teams at Skylo, Garmin GRMN 0.34%↑ and Sony Semicon took home the 2026 GLOMO Award for “Best Connected Consumer Device” at MWC Barcelona.
