TomTom Profit More Than Doubles in Q1 as Cost Cuts Offset Revenue Decline

Dutch mapping company TomTom reported a sharp increase in first-quarter operating profit, driven by cost reductions and efficiency gains following a recent restructuring, even as revenue declined. The company said operating profit rose to €13.8 million from €5.7 million a year earlier, while revenue fell 8% to €129.2 million. Diluted earnings per share for the quarter came in at €0.11.

TomTom, whose customers include Microsoft MSFT 0.00%↑, Uber UBER 0.00%↑ and Volkswagen, has been shifting toward a more product-led and cost-efficient structure. The company completed a restructuring program last year, leading to lower operating expenses and improved profitability despite top-line pressure.

Operating margin rose to about 11 percent from 4 percent a year earlier, reflecting tighter cost control and improved operational efficiency. The company said the benefits of its reorganization are beginning to materialize, helping offset weaker revenue performance.

Chief Executive Harold Goddijn said demand for its mapping products is growing, particularly for its Orbis Maps platform and traffic solutions. “In the first quarter of 2026, we saw broader adoption of our Orbis Maps across customers and applications, and we further strengthened our leading position in Traffic through new partnerships that expand the reach of our real-time and analytical solutions,” he said, adding that the agreements highlight the value customers place on the company’s data. TomTom expects 2026 revenue in the range of €495 million to €555 million, broadly flat to slightly below the €555 million reported in 2025.

TomTom has officially appointed former CTO Mike Schoofs as CEO, marking a leadership transition from co-founder Goddijn.

TomTom launches NAvSDK v2 (TomTom).
