Caterpillar and Trimble Extend Joint Venture
Caterpillar CAT -0.77%↓ and Trimble TRMB -1.41%↓ this week announced the extension of their long-standing joint venture. The agreement includes expanded distribution of grade control solutions in the construction sector. The companies, which have partnered since 2002 on grade control solutions, said the renewed agreement will increase industry reach.
The expanded venture will allow Caterpillar customers to access factory-fit grade options and an expanded aftermarket and digital offerings through the dealer network. Another benefit will be streamlined access to grade control through the Trimble Construction One suite of digital solutions, the company said.

PrePass Launches GPS Toll Verification
PrePass has introduced its GPS Toll Verification service that matches GPS locations to toll charges, thereby proactively identifying potential billing inaccuracies, the company said. By leveraging the PrePass app, GPS technology that many fleets already rely on, GPS Toll Verification detects and highlights inaccurate toll charges, the company said.
Available on Android, iOS, and integrated telematics platforms, the company says the service ensures that fleets only pay for the tolls they incur, leading to cost savings. With GPS location data generated from the PrePass app or a telematics service provider, fleet managers can validate their toll charges, the company said.

AirgainConnect Fleet 5G Vehicle Gateway Grabs T-Mobile and AT&T Carrier Certifications
Airgain AIRG 2.35%↑ has received certification for its next generation AirgainConnect Fleet 5G vehicle gateway from top mobile network operators including T-Mobile TMUS -0.27%↓ and AT&T T -0.63%↓. The second generation of AirgainConnect Fleet, also known as AC-Fleet, was launched at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this year. vIt combines a 5G New Radio modem, Wi-Fi 6 router, gigabit ethernet, GNSS/GPS and antennas.

TomTom Supports Infoware, Extends Partnership With S&P Global
TomTom [Tom2] has announced it will continue to support Infoware, a German provider of professional navigation solutions. Powered by TomTom’s maps and traffic information, Infoware’s MapTrip product suite supports navigation use cases across the logistics, waste management, and emergency services sectors, the company said.
In other company news, TomTom extended its collaboration with S&P Global Mobility, a global provider of automotive intelligence and analysis on various topics for the mobility sector. TomTom’s map data helps to inform elements of several S&P Global Mobility products, aiding in network planning, market sizing, loyalty analyses, and helping car dealerships better understand sales territories, the company said.

Routora Set to Launch Fleet Management Product
Dallas-based Routora has plans to launch its fleet management product, “Routora for Teams,” and says businesses can sign up on the waitlist for early access. The product builds on the momentum from Routora’s mobile app and website launch last year, the company said.
Routora’s fleet tool crafts routes for a team of drivers across large areas, the company said. These optimized routes are synced directly into the drivers’ navigation app of choice: Google Maps, Apple Maps, or Waze.

Queclink Rolls Out Solar Tracker
Queclink has launched its GL601 solar-powered tracker for intermodal transportation and container management. The GL601 features an integrated solar panel that allows it to operate autonomously for 10 years without manual recharging, the company said.

WIPPY Launches Service in Japan
NRISE’s WIPPY has announced that it is launching its discovery service in Japan. WIPPY aims to drive service growth through its location-based matching algorithm and data on user interactions, the company said.
The service also emphasizes community safety through a strict ID verification system and 24/7 monitoring by community administrators, the company said. The online matching service market in Japan is more than three times larger than in Korea and is projected to grow to approximately $1.3 billion within the next three years, the company said.

Three Out of Four Cars Sold in 2023 Were Equipped With Embedded Telematics Systems
According to a research report from the IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, the number of telematics service subscribers using embedded systems will grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 14.6 percent from 239.7 million subscribers at the end of 2023 to 473.8 million subscribers by 2028. Shipments of embedded car OEM telematics systems worldwide are expected to grow from 59.3 million units in 2023 to reach 82.9 million units in 2028, representing an attach rate of 94 percent at the end of the forecasted period. The attach rate of embedded car OEM telematics systems in 2023 was about 75 percent globally. Toyota Motor Group had more than 23 million connected cars at the end of 2023. General Motors GM 0.16%↑ and BMW had at the same time more than 20 million connected cars each, the company said.
