CPI TMD Completes Sea Trials of Quantum Navigation System on UK Vessel
CPI Electron Device Business – TMD Technologies Division has successfully conducted sea trials of its HARLEQUIN quantum-hybrid inertial navigation system aboard the operational vessel THV Galatea, operated by Trinity House, demonstrating stable performance of quantum sensors in real-world maritime conditions without continuous reliance on GNSS like GPS. The HARLEQUIN system integrates a quantum accelerometer to correct drift in classical inertial navigation, extending accurate positioning during GNSS outages that could otherwise cost the UK economy £1.4 billion in a single day.

Data from the trials will inform system upgrades, with a second field trial planned for late 2026 to further advance resilient positioning, navigation and timing capabilities for maritime, defense and commercial applications.

Geotab Becomes Largest Fleet Telematics Provider in Australia and New Zealand After Verizon Deal
The active installed base of fleet management systems in Australia and New Zealand reached about 1.5 million units at the end of 2024 and is forecast to grow at a compound annual rate of 10.9 percent to 2.6 million units by 2029, Berg Insight reported. Geotab has emerged as the clear market leader in the region following its October 2025 acquisition of Verizon Connect’s VZ -1.00%↓ Australian commercial operations, surpassing longtime frontrunners Teletrac Navman and EROAD — all three of which now exceed 100,000 active units. The top five providers — rounded out by Netstar Australia and Linxio/Powerfleet — control roughly one-third of the market, while the top 15 account for 60 percent. Analyst Rickard Andersson said ongoing consolidation, including the imminent sale of Telstra-owned MTData and Powerfleet’s 2024 purchases of MiX Telematics and Fleet Complete, will further reshape the competitive landscape.
