Swift Navigation and CHC Navigation Partner

Swift Navigation has partnered with CHC Navigation to integrate Swift’s Skylark Precise Positioning Service with CHC Navigation’s GNSS receivers.  Markets targeted by the companies include autonomous vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, robotics, and surveying equipment.  The companies say that by combining Skylark with CHC Navigation’s receivers, users will have real-time GNSS corrections and will be able to eliminate expensive local base stations.

An example of the integration is the CHC CGI-220 PRO, which will have centimeter-level accuracy in conjunction with Skylark.  The integrated solutions are now available—with coverage in North America, Europe, Australia, and parts of Asia.

Spirent Helps Drive New Automotive Positioning Standard for Vehicle Safety in China

Spirent Communications has announced that its PNT simulation are playing a role in new automotive positioning standards in China.  The newly announced GB/T 45086.1-2024 standard sets out the recommended technical and test requirements for on-board vehicle positioning systems such as GNSS, the company said.  It is expected to be adopted as part of China’s Accident and Emergency Calling Systems (AECS) framework, the company said.

Infleqtion Gets $11 Million DoD Contract for GPS Alternative

Infleqtion has won an $11 million U.S. Defense Department contract, as part of the Accelerate the Procurement and Fielding of Innovative Technologies (APFIT) program, for work on a Rack Mounted Optical Clocks project.  The Rack Mounted Optical Clocks project, which received a total of $22 million through the APFIT program, leverages quantum technology to deliver accurate, stable, and resilient timekeeping solutions as GPS alternative, the company said.

Tiqker, Infleqtion’s Rack Mounted Optical Clock, will support a range of defense areas, including assured communications, GPS-denied navigation, anti-spoof timing and synchronization for emerging technologies like one-way attack drone protection.

Pointr Indoor Maps to Power NRF 2025

Pointr has been selected as the official mapping and wayfinding technology partner for NRF 2025 in New York.  The company said that 39,000 attendees last year benefitted from Pointr’s maps that allowed indoor navigation at Javits Center.

Pointr’s indoor maps will be used by attendees at NRF 2025 (Pointr).

The 2025 map version will allow attendees to find a booth, navigate to amenties or receive updates on sessions, the company said.  The maps are on the NRF 2025 app.

u-blox Rolls Out GNSS Antenna

Thalwil, Switzerland –based u-blox has launched the ANN-MB2 GNSS antenna. The multiband antenna (L1/L2/L5/E6/B3/L) features an SMA connector and 5-meter cable.

The company says the antenna is intended for mass-market uses. It enables fast time-to-market and has versatile mounting options for diverse installation needs, the company said.

Parkopedia and Škoda Update In-Car Payment Notifications

Parkopedia and Škoda have updated notifications on their in-car payment service to now include prompts to inform drivers when they are approaching locations that support in-car payment transactions.  The companies’ collaboration also allows in-car payments for parking and fueling.

This new functionality is launched with fuel-powered Škoda models, including the FabiaKamiqKaroqKodiaqOctaviaScala and Superb, with notifications for parking locations being added to the all-electric Škoda Elroq at launch, the company said.

Queclink Rolls Out Asset Tracker for Asset Positioning and Stolen Cargo Recovery

Queclink has launched its GL533CG LTE Cat 1 asset tracker equipped with RF433 and BLE technology.  The company says the unit offers asset positioning and stolen cargo recovery capabilities for high-value assets.

The GL533CG features an IP67 waterproof rating, compact form factor and extended battery life, the company said.  Its RF433 transmission capabilities allow for tracking, particularly in areas where traditional GPS signals may be weak or obstructed, the company said.

Penguin Location Services Partners with HCI

HCI has partnered with Penguin Location Services for a BLE 5.1-powered location solution that integrates with HCI’s patient engagement platform to provide visibility into patient room activities. These advanced BLE 5.1-enabled locating devices track the movements and interactions of healthcare professionals, allowing both staff and family members to access real-time and historical data about who has been in a patient’s room–from the in-room TV, the company said.

1NCE Partners with AWS

1NCE has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enable the next phase of growth for 1NCE’s software platform.  1NCE now operates the largest worldwide IoT core in the cloud, with more than 23,000 customers from 52 countries collecting data from 30 million managed endpoints across 173 countries, the company said.  1NCE recently opened the platform for external software providers to build plugins, and is training innovative vendors to develop and distribute new software tools that meet the needs of IoT users, the company said.

The Fleet Management Systems in Europe Will Reach 27.6 million by 2028

The number of active fleet management systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets in Europe was 16.3 million at the end of 2023, according to a new research report from Berg Insight.  Growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.1 percent, this number is expected to reach 27.6 million by 2028, the company said.  Berg Insight ranks Targa Telematics as the largest player in terms of active installed base with around 801,000 units at year-end 2023.
