Pointr has acquired the indoor navigation portfolio of Purple Maps, bolstering its position in the hospital wayfinding market. The deal, of which financial details were not disclosed, was signed in the first quarter with full closure expected this summer.
The acquisition follows Pointr’s recent integration with Epic MyChart. It allows patients to access real-time indoor navigation directly within the Epic app they already use, eliminating the need for separate downloads, the company said. The acquisition brings Purple Maps’ healthcare customers onto Pointr’s platform, which features high-accuracy blue-dot positioning, seamless indoor-to-outdoor routing, and AI-driven map personalization for patients, visitors and staff.

Pointr’s platform, backed by more than 25 technology patents, currently covers more than 5 billion square feet across 5,000+ buildings in 25 countries.
Competitors in Healthcare Indoor Navigation
Pointr faces competition from several players in the indoor mapping and hospital wayfinding space. Mappedin offers self-service tools and rapid deployment for large venues, while Mapsted provides beacon-free positioning using device sensors. Other competitors include Inpixon, which emphasizes real-time location services and analytics, and enterprise-focused solutions such as ArcGIS Indoors from Esri. Pointr differentiates itself through native Epic MyChart integration, sub-3-meter blue-dot accuracy, and a strong focus on AI-native mapping tailored specifically for healthcare environments.
In other company news, Pointr has announced that San Francisco’s Moscone Center joined its Connected Venue program.
